WOMENFUTURE
PANEL OF TOP FEMALE EXECUTIVES CONVENE AT THE NYSE TO DISCUSS
MOVING FORWARD FROM 9/11
NEW YORK (November 13, 2001) -- Senior businesswomen from
a wide array of industries and locations convened yesterday
at the New York Stock Exchange for a Womenfuture conversation
about how to move American businesses forward following
the September 11 attacks. Noreen Culhane, Executive Vice
President, New York Stock Exchange and Susan W. Bird, CEO,
Womenfuture, co-hosted the event.
"Never before has there been such
need for a global conversation about leadership," said
Susan Bird of Womenfuture. "To connect and engage people
- not only locally, but also with men and women around the
world - is crucial. We want to ensure that women are part
of - and leading- that conversation. We hope that this conversation
will be the tip of the iceberg as we collectively determine
what we, as women leaders, need to do to facilitate change,
not only in our own companies but around the world."
Featured speakers were Heidi G. Miller,
Vice Chairman of Marsh Inc., the world's leading risk and
insurance services firm, Marilyn Jordan Taylor, Chairman,
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP and Ms. Culhane of the
NYSE.
Ms. Miller said, "In the tragic aftermath
of September 11 we at Marsh, Inc. are moving forward to
help our clients in an insurance environment made far more
difficult by the losses stemming from the terrorist attacks.
Virtually all companies face similar challenges, so it is
imperative that we focus on solving the tough business issues
that lie ahead."

that morning, some participants were unable to make the
event at the last minute. Among those scheduled to attend
were: Jackie Adams, Managing Director, Clark & Weinstock;
